How To Choose the Best Applicant Tracking Systems?

First published: March 28, 2022 @ 6:00 pm

Do you know why applicant tracking systems are important?

The hiring process is one of the most important parts of any business. The recruitment process determines how the new hire will perform in their new role and whether they fit the organization.

If new employees don’t feel comfortable during their first few weeks at work, it reflects their trajectory in a year.

So, it is important for a company to have a proper hiring process that will ensure they screen all applicants.

Hiring the right people is one of the most important things a company can do to increase its bottom line.

For this reason, it is crucial for companies to use a suitable applicant tracking system (ATS).

What to Look for in an Applicant Tracking System?

So, how do you know which applicant tracking system is the best for your company? Here are some factors that should be considered when looking at ATS:

1. Speed of Application Screening Process

A good applicant tracking system will have a thorough and efficient screening process.

You want to make sure that your candidates are only given interviews if they are actually qualified.

So, speed is extremely important.

2. Mobile-Friendly Applications

Many applicants now use mobile devices to complete their job applications.

This means that applicants will often not complete their applications on their desktop computer and instead submit them via their smartphone or tablet.

This can make the screening process a lot more time-consuming as we will need to send applicants’ resumes and cover letters to the applicants via email.

It is important to find an applicant tracking system that can easily handle these submissions and deliver them to the right people in the organization.

3. Flexibility to Add Candidates

When we add new candidates to our application, it is important that we can add their information to our applicant tracking system as quickly as possible.

If we have a long list of candidates and want to add their information to our applicant tracking system, then this can become a lot more time-consuming and cause delays in the screening process.

It is important for us to manage all of our applicants efficiently, so it is crucial that our ATS can quickly add new applicants to our system.

4. Privacy Settings for Applicants’ Data

Another thing that you should look at when looking at ATS is how your applicants’ data will be handled and protected from any potential leaks or security breaches within your company.

When you have sensitive data on your employees, then it could be a good idea for you to check out the privacy settings on each applicant tracking system before choosing one for your company.

If you don’t want to disclose your applicant’s full name, then it is important that the ATS can handle this situation.

5. Additional Functionality for Recruiting Process

When looking at ATS, it is important to look at what additional functionality the ATS offers that can be beneficial for your company.

You will want to make sure that the ATS can provide you with data about your applicants and any updates about their status.

This will help you stay on top of your applicants and make sure that they are still actively looking for new opportunities.

6. The Right Amount of Features

It is important to consider how many features an applicant tracking system has before choosing one for your company.

You don’t want to choose an applicant tracking system with too many features because it will make it difficult for you to use it effectively and manage all of your applicants effectively.
